Teaching Staff
As this is the first school experience for most children, we want to ensure that their introduction is positive and fun. Our teachers are dynamic and lovin g. They each have unique qualities and skills to bring to their classroom, and all have the love for children in common.
All of our teachers are fully trained professionals. The directress and her assistants are Montessori trained or are working towards a diploma to ensure th at the Montessori method thrives in our school environment. All staff have certification in Early Childhood Education a program that covers all aspects of a preschool education from child development and discipline to classroom management. All of our staff are hired on the basis of their character, strengths, dedication and experien ce as well as their demonstrated professionalism in preschool educational philosophies.
With a teaching staff as professional as ours, we find ourselves with a unique approach. Each child is carefully observed and introduced to educational gam es that suit his/her personal needs and interests. Observations of a child's activities are made on a continuous basis so that new material can be introduced when the c hild is ready. As you can see, this approach is quite different from most mainstream systems. It emphasizes the present needs and interest of the individual child. We are fortunate to have teachers who are experienced and devoted to this method.
"The Secret of Good Teaching...
...is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds many be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination. Our aim therefore is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorize, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his inner most core. We do not want complacent pupils, but eager ones: we seek to sow life in the child rather than theories, to help him in his growth, mental and emotional as well as physical, an d for that we must offer grand and lofty ideas to the human mind, which we find ever ready to receive them, demanding more and more."
